Trinidadian writer Sharon Millar, winner of The Commonwealth Short Story Prize, and Hannah Lowe, shortlisted for the Forward Best First Collection, present short stories and poems on travellers, shapeshifters, and portrayals of Caribbeans and their descendants in England. Millar reads from The Whale House, a tumultuous, compelling portrayal of contemporary Caribbean culture and communities, shortlisted for the 2016 OCM Bocas Prize. Lowe reads from her new poetry collection Chan, exploring the experiences of her father, a Black–Chinese Jamaican card sharp with a past, who shook up 1960s England and a ship full of dreamers sailing from Kingston to Liverpool in 1947.
